Area Representative: Mexico
Erika was born in Mexico City, and since she was a little kid, she has always loved music and singing. As a young singer, she developed a cyst in her vocal cords because she was taught to sing only in chest voice. After getting surgery to treat the cyst, she decided that she wanted to know more about the voice and continue her passion for singing.
She now has a degree in Communications Sciences from Tec de Monterrey Campus Ciudad de México, and she also became certified as a vocal coach in Speech Level Singing™ in 2011. She is now an Instructor Level III for IVA and Area Representative of México, as well as a board member of The Voice Foundation México with successful ENTs Dr. Fermín Zubiaur and Dr. Carlos Manzano, working to spread vocal health in her community.
Erika has a successful vocal studio, and she has many students who perform in musical theatre in Mexico, including Les Misérables, The Lion King, Hello, Dolly!, Cats, etc. She also coaches singers for The Voice México, along with TV actors and dancers.
Besides teaching, Erika’s other passion includes performing professionally as a singer, and you can find her work as a songwriter on Spotify.
