The Five Certificate Tiers of the IVA Certification Program

Today we are sharing a brief introduction to the five certificates of IVA

IVA Instructor I

Awarded to Student Teachers (STs) after they have completed all of the requirements and passed testing. An Student Teacher (ST) has 12 months to complete the process which can be extended to a maximum of 24 months working toward completion of this certificate. Once completed, an ST officially becomes a Certified IVA Instructor.

IVA Instructor II

Prerequisite: Instructor I certificate. Must spend at least two (2) years in this certificate program, complete all requirements and pass testing.

IVA Instructor III

Prerequisite: Instructor II certificate. Must spend at least two (2) years in this certificate program, complete all requirements and pass testing. After completing the Instructor III certificate a teacher may choose to hold at this certification level, or complete annual continuing education working towards the next level, and stay certified by paying the yearly fee.

The Advanced and Mentor certificates should be viewed like post-graduate work. These are not mandatory certificates. The expectations and workload are much higher.

IVA Advanced Instructor

Prerequisite: Instructor III certificate. Must spend a minimum of two (2) years, complete all requirements, and pass testing to be awarded the Advanced certificate. Must also pass panel testing and complete a large project.

After completing the Advanced Certificate a teacher may choose to hold at this certification, complete annual continuing education, and stay certified by paying the yearly fee.

IVA Mentor Instructor

Prerequisite: Advanced certificate. Must spend a minimum of two (2) years, complete all requirements, and pass testing to be awarded the Advanced certificate. Must also pass one panel test and complete a large project.

After completing the Mentor certificate a teacher can hold at this certification, complete annual continuing education, and stay certified by paying the yearly fee.
