What You’ll Learn
This live course explores the unique demands of training singers in today’s commercial music industry, from pop and rock to T-Pop and beyond. Unlike classical or musical theatre training, commercial singers must balance strong vocal technique with authenticity, artistry, and stylistic versatility. A key challenge lies in guiding artistry without compromising the needs of the artist or the producer. In this course, Jay Veerayano will share proven strategies for building vocal clarity, stamina, and presence, while equipping singers with the skills they need to deliver confidently without fearing that technique will tamper with their sound. Participants will learn how to help singers achieve “the sound” they are happy with, while refining their individual style and performance skills. This practical approach empowers artists to thrive both on stage and in the studio, preparing them to connect with audiences in the fast-evolving global music market.
By the end, you will learn to:
- Understand the unique demands of commercial music singers and how they differ from classical and musical theatre training.
- Develop strategies to guide vocal artistry without compromising the creative needs of artists or producers.
- Equip singers with technical skills (clarity, stamina, presence, intonation) that enhance performance without tampering with their authentic sound.
- Communicate effectively with artists and producers to align vocal coaching with commercial expectations.
- Coach singers toward achieving “the sound” they are happy with while ensuring vocal health and long-term sustainability.
- Participate in real-life teaching practice by working directly with artists.
This course is designed for live participation, featuring interactive elements and real-time coaching. To maximize the benefit, participants are strongly encouraged to attend the sessions live. This format allows for full engagement with the artists, the opportunity to observe live demonstrations, and hands-on practice of techniques in real-time scenarios.
